Google Wireless in the Works at Awkward Utopia

Google Wireless in the Works

Not drooling for the iPhone yet? Just wait until it’s on a Google wireless network along with all the Google goodies we have all come to love and depend on. I know you’re thinking “What does all this have to do with economics!?” Well, it does have serious implications for those in the wireless telecommunications industry, but most importantly it has to do with Google, one of my favorite companies. Although I still haven’t forgiven them for complying with the Chinese government in censoring their search engine, I am excited about bringing a major innovator into the mobile industry.

Google is planning to make a serious bid this January for wireless spectrum with the FCC and is currently running a test version of its advanced wireless network at its headquarters in Mountain View, CA.

Combine the innovative power of Google with the next generation iPhone’s (assuming they end their horrible contract with AT&T) and you have one seriously sexy device and platform. And if you thought that Google was overvalued (GOOG: $633.63/share as of Nov 16 2007), just wait until “Google Mobile” hits the market! (This is not investment advise!)
